Let the Past Fade Away

A week before I was set to marry top-tier star Xiao Yichen, one of his obsessive fans splashed sulfuric acid on me. I passed out on the spot, overcome by the pain.

When I woke up, I kept my eyes closed, unwilling to accept the fact that my face had been disfigured.

Xiao Yichen thought I was still unconscious, so he spoke openly with his manager beside me.

“If you want to marry Bai Jing, then go ahead. Why did you hire someone to throw acid on her and ruin her face? Are you even human?”

His manager’s voice was thick with anger, but Xiao Yichen replied coolly.

“If I hadn’t done it, how would Xiaojing have appeared at the wedding? With my status, she’d have to hide behind me for the rest of her life. All she wants is to walk through the ceremony with me in the open. I can’t deny her that.”

I dug my nails into my palm, fighting to keep from crying.

The romantic fairy tale I’d believed in all these years, about a top-tier star falling in love with an ordinary girl,

was really a horror story full of bloodshed, violence, and lies.

If that’s how it is, Xiao Yichen, let’s never see each other again.
