Shadows Shouldn't Have Opinions

Quiet, taciturn shadow guard (loyal younger pursuer) * Alluring gambling house owner (older, dominant love interest)

The shadow guard is ruthless and has killed countless people. No one who becomes her target ever makes it back alive.

The only exception is the proprietress of Silvermoon House.

Yue Ying disguises herself as a man and enters the gambling house to gather information and eliminate her target, Meng Jiaoyi.

But in the end, she is the one bound hand and foot, unable to move.

Later, she is hunted by numerous shadow guards, and the person she was supposed to kill turns out to be the one who saves her.

She thinks she can finally leave the Shadow Guard Pavilion behind, but an arrow snuffs out the last glimmer of hope.

That day, she sneaks into her bedroom. As she searches around, a figure appears in her line of sight. She looks up.

“If you want to know something, just ask me directly.”

Meng Jiaoyi smiles, breathtakingly beautiful, though her gaze is ice-cold.

“If I fail the mission, I die. If you catch me, I die too. Just kill me.”

“How could I... bear to let you die?”

Before Yue Ying’s eyes, Meng Jiaoyi approaches step by step and draws her into her arms.

“You mustn’t die. For my sake, you have to live again.”

Note: At first, the female lead disguises herself as a man, and her personality differs from her naturally quiet and taciturn self. If that’s not your thing, don’t read.

Early on, the second female lead teases the female lead in all sorts of ways. The female lead may seem more submissive, but once they get together, she’ll take the lead!
