[This is a slow burn, not a face-slapping wish-fulfillment story. There will be no mindless power-ups, and the leads are rational people with principles. They won’t destroy the world for love at first sight!]

A Xue, a fox spirit from Spirit Mist Mountain, was once an innocent, carefree little fox. But after a Taoist priest slaughtered her family, she was left with a blood feud to avenge. To grow stronger and take revenge, she sets out to find a dual-cultivation partner, only to unexpectedly save Xiao Yi, the Crown Prince of Li, and become entangled in a whirlpool of court intrigue and conflict between the human and demon races.

Xiao Yi appears to be a gentle, refined Crown Prince, but in truth he is shrewd and deep-thinking, burdened by his father’s suspicions and the undercurrents at court. He goes from using A Xue to sincerely protecting her, but struggles with the divide between humans and demons. With her wit and kindness, A Xue repeatedly helps Xiao Yi overcome crises, and their feelings for each other grow. However, the schemes of Lingxu Temple gradually come to light, and the collusion between the Taoist priests and the imperial court makes tensions between the human and demon races worse and worse.

With Xiao Yi’s help, A Xue refines her demon core and greatly increases her strength, but she also faces even greater challenges.

Are humans and demons truly destined to be divided? Are fox spirits a menace to the nation? Are women forbidden from taking part in politics?

See how A Xue breaks through prejudice and grows from an inexperienced young fox spirit into an empress who changes the fate of both humans and demons.

The Emperor and Empress join forces to fight Lingxu Temple and champion the establishment of the Demon Control Bureau, opening a new path toward peace between humans and demons.
