In the near-future era of interstellar colonization, around the late 22nd century, humanity has established multiple colonies throughout and beyond the solar system and entered a phase of large-scale, high-risk expansion into other star systems.
• Two systems of supernatural power:
• Esper abilities: Special powers that are either innate or awakened later, relying on individual mental strength and genetic traits. The system is vast and includes elemental, enhancement, mental, spatial, and other types. These abilities are highly explosive but costly to use, and growth is heavily limited by talent.
• Spiritual energy: Practitioners absorb and refine the “spirit energy” permeating the universe through specific methods, using it to strengthen themselves or cast spells. It requires a talent for cultivation and suitable techniques. Progress is slower, but the potential is profound, with greater emphasis on precise energy control and endurance.
• Social structure:
• On the surface: The Earth Federation governs the whole of humanity, promoting the ideals of a “human community” and the “spirit of interstellar pioneering.”
• In reality: Society is divided among major interstellar conglomerates, ancient families that pass down esper abilities or spiritual cultivation, and powerful space legions. Resources and power are highly concentrated, and the hierarchy is rigid.
• Colonist ranks: From A (elite administrators, researchers, and high-level supernatural beings) to F (basic laborers and the unqualified). Rank determines resource allocation, living conditions, and even the value placed on a person’s safety.
