I Am an Immortal Official in the Heavenly Court

With his life force nearly spent, sword cultivator Li Qingyuan burns his blood essence to fight his way through the Heaven-Piercing Thunder Tribulation. He thinks ascending to the Earthly Immortal Realm might give him a chance to survive, but instead he steps straight into an even bloodier slaughterhouse. The demon clans’ true forms tear through the sea of clouds, while sinister schemes churn within the sleeves of celestial officials. He comes to understand that the so-called Heavenly Court is just another furnace that devours its own.

Seeking cultivation resources, he joins an auxiliary branch of the Heavenly Court and battles his way forward, slaying demons and vanquishing evil. He rises from an auxiliary Demon-Subduing Officer to the imperial-appointed Grand Lord of Demon Slaying, finally catching the attention of the Heavenly Court’s highest ranks. He climbs the celestial steps over mountains of corpses and seas of blood, only to have his authority stripped away amid factional strife and be demoted to a Boundary-Patrolling Celestial Soldier before the Lingxiao Hall. Only then does Li Qingyuan realize that the Heavenly Court is no harmonious home. It is rife with deception and scheming. Amid the jade wine and immortal delicacies served at feasts in the Jade Pool of the Nine Heavens, the stark white bones of a hundred thousand Celestial River troops drift. Among the crimson petals falling through the Peach Garden lies the Star Lords’ plot to raise demons through calamities. When the thirty-third layer of Heaven splits open with a rift in chaos, Li Qingyuan stands with his sword raised at the Gate of Heaven. Behind him lie the shattered golden registers of immortal status; before him surges a tide of cataclysm. This time, he will make the rotten Heavenly Court remember the edge of a mortal’s sword.

This is an epic of a nobody’s revolt against the gods, and a cautionary tale of schemers undone by their own plots. When the Samadhi True Fire burns away the eighty thousand laws of Heaven, watch as a cultivator at the end of his road wields his mortal body as a sword and cleaves apart the endless night shrouding the Three Realms.
