Fateful Encounter: Intern reporter Lin Xiaoman stumbles upon a wealthy family's secret at a funeral home and unexpectedly enters into a contract with Shen Yan, president of the Shen Group. Shen Yan needs someone with a pure yin fate to suppress evil spirits, while Lin Xiaoman accepts the job to investigate the truth behind her mother's death.
Supernatural Entanglements: A qipao-clad female ghost wandering the Shen family ancestral home, a wedding procession appearing at midnight, a talking bronze mirror: every supernatural incident points to a tragic catastrophe in the occult world twenty years ago. During their investigation, the two discover that Lin Xiaoman's mother was the key figure in sealing the Seven-Star Lantern back then.
The Truth Emerges: The evil spirit sealed within Shen Yan is gradually awakening, and the celestial phenomenon known as “Yinghuo Guards the Heart,” foretold by the Seven-Star Lantern, is about to arrive. To prevent the destruction of the world, Lin Xiaoman must unravel the occult arts sealed within her memories, but the price may be an eternal separation from Shen Yan, in life and death.
A Bloodstained Choice: As the wick of the Seven-Star Lantern's seventh lamp is about to go out, Shen Yan chooses to use a forbidden technique to draw the evil spirit into himself. As his soul is on the verge of being annihilated, Lin Xiaoman uses her blood to activate an ancient formation, only to discover that her soul has long been bound to the Seven-Star Lantern's lifeline.
