A Marriage Gone Wrong: The Wrong Childhood Sweetheart, One Step from Death

Bai Yanshu's father died in the line of duty, and her mother perished in a fire, leaving her an orphan with nowhere to go.

To repay Bai's father for saving his life, the Lu family took Bai Yanshu in and raised her.

After years of investigation, Old Master Lu uncovered a glimpse of the truth. Before his death, he not only gave Bai Yanshu shares in the family business, but also demanded that she marry his grandson.

Lu Shicong suspected Bai Yanshu was using her father's life-saving favor to marry into the Lu family. On their wedding night, he forced her to sign an agreement for a marriage in name only and warned her not to get any ideas.

Bai Yanshu agreed to the marriage because she had mistaken Lu Shicong for her childhood sweetheart, the older brother she had grown up with.

During their three years of marriage, they barely spoke, apart from the times she helped Lu Shicong deal with the various women in his life.

With the agreement's term nearly over, she was heartbroken that she could not keep her childhood sweetheart by her side. Then she learned that her mother-in-law wanted her dead, all because she wanted to reclaim the family's shares.

Bai Yanshu had gone from disappointment and sorrow to numbness. Overwhelmed by exhaustion, she dug out the agreement and studied it carefully.

Lu Shicong assumed Bai Yanshu was playing hard to get, but he had no idea that Chu Ge had already gotten the news. Now taking a tremendous risk, Chu Ge was doing everything possible to return to the country.

The lawyer worked day and night to find a way for Bai Yanshu to get divorced. In the end, it turned into a farce of him chasing her while she dodged him, then her chasing him when he stopped.

But would Chu Ge give Lu Shicong the chance to win his wife back?
