The time is set in the Daxinganling region of Northeast China in the 1960s, a special period when natural disasters and planned economy intertwined. Chen Shi was originally a retired soldier in the 21st century. Due to an accident, he was reborn as the son of an Orion who was on the verge of freezing to death in the northeastern forest. Both of his parents died at home, leaving only his frail sister and his elderly grandfather to depend on each other. A bully relative in the village covets the ancestral shotgun and forest resources, and wants to sell his sister as a child bride. Chen Shi relied on modern military skills and knowledge of mountain survival, starting from hunting, and gradually uncovered family secrets, fought against the tide of the times and the greed of human nature, and eventually became a legendary figure protecting the mountains, forests and villagers.
