[Alternate history + Wasteland survival + Rise to power]
Winter, 1950. An abandoned cannery on the south bank of the Columbia River.
When Chen Yun Zhao wakes up, he discovers that he has become the exiled King of Han. His territory holds eight hundred refugees, two hundred battered soldiers, and three wrecked trucks. Supplies have been cut off for seven years. The Republic of Wu Yue Nia on the north bank has just delivered its final ultimatum: surrender or starve.
The good news is that two sets of memories are lodged in his mind: one from a falsified version of the world, the other from true history. He also has a battered old book whose cover bears five words.
People's War. United Front. Protracted War.
From then on, the armored vehicles of the West Coast Liberation Army are reduced to scrap in the valleys, the cavalry of the Rocky Mountain Ironblood Principality is routed in night raids, and the red flag rises above the parliament building of Wu Yue Nia.
In the Pacific swims a monstrous beast born from a runaway American military genetic experiment. Deep in the mutation zone lies a super-experimental subject codenamed Prometheus, while pale ones left behind by the British Army wander the wasteland.
And the Later Ming, the Soviet Union, and Germany...
The tentacles of the old world's three great powers are crossing the mutation zone and reaching toward this forsaken land.
But Chen Yun Zhao holds the sharpest weapon in the world: an ideology that helps the oppressed rise to their feet.
From three hundred fighters to thirty thousand, from a ruined factory to the new Yingtian Prefecture.
When an envoy from the United Federation of America first crossed the Mississippi River to negotiate peace, Chen Yun Zhao said only one thing:
“The people of the West Coast answer to the West Coast. Keep your system for yourselves.”
The new world's prologue begins with a radio broadcast.
