Selected Works on Cause and Effect

Good deeds are like the gentle spring rain, nourishing all things in silence. A family that accumulates goodness passes down benevolence from generation to generation. Its descendants reap the rewards: when hardship comes, a benefactor appears; when adversity strikes, a way forward emerges. Family values are like seeds: kind thoughts take root and grow into towering trees that shelter future generations. Evil deeds, like brambles, wound others and ensnare the doer, eventually leaving the family in decline. The ancient saying, “Accumulating wealth leaves calamity; accumulating goodness leaves blessings,” reveals the truth: the wise pass down virtue as a farsighted legacy, while fools hoard wealth and only compound their sins. The rewards of good and evil may not appear overnight, yet cause and effect weave together, and each person bears the consequences of their blessings and misfortunes. Only those with upright hearts and honorable conduct can enjoy peaceful days and a flourishing family.
