Yuchen was born in a small mountain village. His father was a farmer through and through, and his mother was a country woman. As a child, Yuchen had a fairly happy life. His father worked hard, and his mother took care of the household. All in all, he had a good childhood.
But after Yuchen started middle school, his father picked up a gambling habit. Before long, their home no longer felt like a home. His mother wept every day, and without Yuchen knowing, his younger brother and sister dropped out of school. Soon, Yuchen's own education came to an end.
Without any warning, he was told he could no longer go to school.
He knew his family could not afford the tuition. Rather than go home, he wandered aimlessly through the streets of the small county town at night.
And so began his life as a lackey.
Li Yitong, meanwhile, was a rich girl whose parents had sent her abroad to study when she was young. She was still studying overseas.
After a series of extraordinary encounters, the two met several years later. In the end, they embarked on remarkable lives together.
