Sea Battle: What I Never Lack Are Degenerate Gamblers

At eighteen, on your coming-of-age day, you choose one of three options, and it determines your whole life.

But every ten levels, you get another chance.

A blood-red button flickers deep in your consciousness. Press it, and three silver options vanish, replaced by a new one: it could be stronger, or it could be worse.

Not satisfied? Pay another ten years of your lifespan, and you can take one more gamble.

The odds of getting a golden Hextech are 0.003%.

Only three people in a million can manage it.

But every year, people still press that button one after another.

Because what if?

What if this time, I'm one of those 0.003%?

What if the golden Hextech is waiting in this refresh?

What if I win, and don't have to spend my whole life as a loser?

This world has no shortage of gamblers.

They look at faces ten years older in the mirror and say, “Worth it.”

They lie in hospital beds, with only three years left after burning through their lifespans, and say, “Just give me one more chance.”

They die in dungeons, still thinking in their final moments:

What if?

There has to be a time when someone wins.

There has to be someone who hits the jackpot.

Why can't it be me?

The Hextech Era. Seven billion awakened people around the world.

One refresh every ten levels, and every refresh is a high-stakes gamble.

Some win and become heroes.

Some lose and become dry bones among the ruins.

But no one has ever asked:

Who is the house that keeps inviting you to gamble?
