[Secret Crush + Childhood Sweethearts + Bittersweet Ending + Imagination + Survival + Cheat Ability] Cheerful boy Xia Hefeng × insecure girl Xu Zhichu In midsummer, the flowers bloom year after year. I write my secret love into the poems of time. Xia Hefeng watches them from afar. Even the breeze cannot cool the summer’s heat. Tears slide down his cheeks, and a hole opens in the boy’s heart, hurting so badly he can’t breathe. “If you like her, why not tell her?” “I’m afraid of losing her.” Xu Zhichu’s mentally ill mother finds her. In a confused state, she beats Xu Zhichu mercilessly. Xia Hefeng arrives in time and shields Xu Zhichu with his body. Badly injured, he is rushed to the hospital. “Ah Feng, I’m sorry.” Xu Zhichu sobs beside his hospital bed. The boy’s heart softens. He wants to reach out and wipe away her tears, but suddenly remembers something and pulls his hand back. Xia Hefeng turns away and says quietly, “As long as you’re okay.” She doesn’t belong to him. That summer, Xia Hefeng’s old illness returns. In the end, the only person he wants to see is Xu Zhichu. He is hidden away in the summer. Years later, in another midsummer, Xu Zhichu happens upon Xia Hefeng’s notebook. At the end, it says, “Xiao Chu, I only found the courage to confess my love to you when I was about to die. I’m sorry. I crossed the line.” Xu Zhichu’s eyes redden. Tears stream down her face, and soon she is sobbing uncontrollably. Her cries echo through the whole summer. She missed her chance with him.
