There is a saying in Buddhism: Bodhisattvas fear causes, while ordinary beings fear consequences.
Bodhisattvas fear the causes and conditions behind all things, while people everywhere fear only their outcomes.
Everything in the world is governed by cause and effect: sow melons and you reap melons, sow beans and you reap beans. The sun rises, then sets; people come together, then part; joy and sorrow, reunion and separation are all part of human life and the natural order of things.
The cycle of cause and effect has its own fixed course.
Look upon all beings, as their karmic ties arise and fade.
If you lack the means to strike with thunder, do not presume to have a Bodhisattva's heart.
