Mi Mi is the demon realm’s famous fixture, always stepping down as Demon King only to take the throne again.
Other demons have to scheme and fight to become Demon King. She just has to be tough enough to survive. Under the curse of Xuan Ji, a Demon King from countless generations ago, every time she dies, she levels up. She’s managed to live long enough to become a fossil of the demon realm.
But this ancient demon has one lingering heartache: a thousand years ago, the little cat demon Ze Xi sacrificed his soul to protect her. Ever since, he has been the beloved figure she dreams of at midnight, the scar on her heart.
Then one day, she picks up a child who claims to have nowhere to go.
The kid looks sweet and adorable, but fights viciously. He also keeps staring at her as if she were an antique. “Big Sis, the way you’re acting as Demon King... it’s exactly the same as before.”
Mi Mi: ??? Why is this brat so devious?
Later
She takes on the enemy army alone, while he secretly turns their base into a fireworks display.
She gets drunk and throws a tantrum, and he finishes three hundred years’ worth of memorials she’s never touched.
And when she risks her life doing something reckless, the kid tears open the void itself, making all the ghosts kneel and cry, “Our King!”
Mi Mi, eyes wide with shock: Weren’t you supposed to be a frail little darling???
Ze Xi, tugging at her sleeve and acting sweet: Big Sis, I’m scared of ghosts QAQ
