The Fall of Gods and Demons

Yan Zhao awakens from a bronze coffin with a bloodstained “Burial” character carved into the jade pendant on his wrist. His memories of thirty thousand years have shattered. He remembers only that during the Battle of the Falling Heavens, he plunged his own halberd into the dragon heart of his dear friend, Xiao Tianque. Now a bronze plague spreads across the Nine Provinces: cultivators' flesh and blood turn into gears, Devouring Cosmos Insects crawl from the eye sockets of the Zhenyuan Division's pursuers, and the Star Chart of the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion is refining all living beings into fuel for a temporal prison.

Bound by a Dragon Attendant contract, Xiao Tianque struggles between saving Yan Zhao and killing him. Every drop of dragon blood brings Yan Zhao's Dragon-Burying Sword closer to losing control. The River of Rebirth reflects a hundred thousand faces identical to Yan Zhao's, while the eyeballs ground by an old woman at an inn conceal fragments of the Qingqiu Female Emperor's marriage contract. When Yan Zhao drives a chariot forged from Yinglong's bones through the nine layers of bronze gates, he finds himself standing behind every gate, sword in hand. Each version of him is rewriting history into a different bloody legend.

The truth takes shape as the coffin fragments are pieced together: what seemed to be a resurrection is actually a god-slaying trap laid by Yan Zhao himself thirty thousand years ago. The Qingqiu Female Emperor's remnant soul in the jade pendant, the curse of betrayal in Xiao Tianque's bloodline, and the North Crown star mark on the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion Master's wheelchair are all stakes in this game. But when the final coffin fragment is fitted into place, the Yan Zhao of the present will vanish, releasing the “complete” divine corpse sealed forever in the Guixu. That is the true face of the catastrophe threatening all the heavens.
