Folk-culture blogger Lin Xiaolu hates two kinds of people more than anything:
First, trolls who call him “superstitious,” and second, handsome science fanatics with sharp tongues.
As luck would have it, top physicist Shen Yan has both qualities. At an auction, he snatches the evil-suppressing sword Lin Xiaolu is after, then publicly accuses him of fraud!
Lin Xiaolu grits his teeth. “Just you wait. If the sword spirit doesn't scare you into wetting yourself tonight, I'll take your surname!”
But the next day, Lin Xiaolu nearly gets hauled off by the police for “trespassing.”
The reason: Professor Shen's house is haunted, and the security cameras caught Lin Xiaolu straddling him and drawing a talisman...
Lin Xiaolu: “...Is it possible I was trying to protect him?”
Later on
Trolls discover that Shen Yan has been secretly citing occult classics in his research papers.
The scientific community is stunned to learn that he keeps a peachwood sword in his lab.
And Lin Xiaolu's protective talisman turns out to contain a nanoscale chip.
Fans: “Are you two practicing cyber-cultivation or what?”

Shen Yan: “Research shows that kissing can be used to assess someone's genetic information.”
Lin Xiaolu: “Put that in plain language!”
Shen Yan: “Kiss me. It's scientifically necessary.”
