Zhou Luan was a corporate drone who worked herself to the bone just to stay alive. An orphan whose parents had died when she was young, she learned that she was about to die because she couldn't afford treatment. That's when she awakened a System that paid her for being insulted.
The System claimed that every insult would earn her money, and once she made ten million, she'd be completely cured. She'd never have to turn herself into a Japanese person for the sake of her treatment again. After a lifetime of bad luck, Zhou Luan had finally reached her springtime. She applauded the idea and eagerly agreed. Getting insulted for money was a perfect fit for someone as thick-skinned as her!
After accepting the mission, Zhou Luan became Zhang Yanfei and set off down the road of racking her brains every day to make her boss, Zhou Xingque, fly into a furious rage. She never looked back.
But can someone explain why her sharp-tongued, scheming, handsome boss has fallen for her?! He even claims they had a history together. Then why doesn't she remember any of it? This has to be a lie!
Zhou Luan snapped, "To hell with romance! Cutting off my livelihood is like murdering my parents. Do you even understand that?! You're my boss! The person I hate most! There's no way this can end well for us!!"
"...Then I'll give you everything I have. Will you give me a happy ending?" Zhou Xingque asked sincerely, his gaze dimming slightly.
And then Zhou Luan shamefully wavered. "Uh... I suppose that could work?"
But fate loves to play tricks. Once the past becomes the past, no amount of stubbornly revisiting it can make it anything more than a dream.
"Zhou Xingque, can you even see who I am?" she said.
Zhou Xingque's answer was: no comment.
Open ending/Bad ending + cause and effect + everyone is evil + comedy in the early stages, redemption in the middle, twists in the later stages
