[Mortal Cultivation] × [Slice-of-Life Cultivation] × [Fate of Formation Patterns] × [Ensemble Cast of the Great Wilderness]
A blade concealed in a sliver of wood; mortal hands carving the fate of heaven.
In the ancient lands of Taihuang, where sword qi eats away at the bones and spiritual energy has run dry, mortals live like grass clinging to a cliff face.
His hands are steadier holding a carving knife than a hoe. In his palms, rotten wood can bloom: the qilin that wards off evil for the Zhu family on West Street, the Guanyin who grants children hanging above Granny Wu's doorway, even the lucky toad at Chun Niu's wonton shop. All were carved by the boy's twig-thin fingers.
But the Great Wilderness has no faith in gentleness.
The sword qi left behind by the ancient battlefield three hundred years ago still gnaws at living beings, and evil spirits weep night after night in abandoned mine shafts. As he carves his ninety-eighth wooden figure for his ailing mother, the blue-steel carving knife in his arms suddenly grows hot. The words “Heavenly Craftsman” on its handle bleed rust like blood, as if answering the roar awakening deep within the veins of the mines.
“Those hands of yours should carve the veins of heaven and earth, not the Kitchen God!!!”
A strange man in blue robes tosses three copper coins from a corner of the inn. The hexagram shows fire blazing into the heavens.
Chen Feng looks down at his hands, chapped with chilblains. They hold the warmth of his mother's bloodied cough, the copper coins Iron Pillar pressed into his palm to calm his spirit, and the solemn promise Steward Zhou made when he gave him an indigo jacket. He has no idea whether what these hands are about to carve will be a qilin to suppress evil, the core of a formation to slay a god, or... the fate-patterns of every being in Taihuang struggling to survive.
[Everyday Storytelling] × [Woodcarving Masters Ten Thousand Arts] × [Hidden Threads Unravel Like Silk]
Where wood shavings fly, mortal hands carve mountains and rivers.
Watch as a boy cuts through chaos with a dull knife and carves a path for mortals to become saints in a land where spiritual energy has run dry.
It's quite good, it's the type I like to read, but the number of words is still short. Come on!
It's over, it's over, I'm completely captivated by this book! The plot is compact and not procrastinating, and the relationships between the characters are intricate. I was so nervous throughout the whole movie that I couldn't sleep at all. It was so good!
