A thornbird starved of love by her family of origin × an insecure, loyal puppy manipulated by his ex
“Lu Zhaoming, you’re the light of my life.”
“Su Jinxue, you’re my only salvation.”
Su Jinxue, a sophomore design major, grew up in a broken home. Her father died young, her mother remarried, and her stepfather’s mother mocked and belittled her. The death of her own grandmother plunged her into endless loneliness. Like a little bird among thorns, she longed for warmth but was afraid to draw near. Then she met Lu Zhaoming, a junior computer science major, a boy who lit up her life like the sun.
Lu Zhaoming came from a privileged family but chose to support himself. He seemed strong on the outside, but deep down he was insecure and always felt he wasn’t good enough. After a chance invitation brought them together, they gradually grew closer and healed each other.
“You think you’re not good enough, but I think you’re wonderful.”
“Su Jinxue, you’re my one and only exception.”
From their first tentative kiss to all the times they couldn’t help drawing close, they found a sense of belonging in each other’s arms. But later, the light that had brightened her life ultimately couldn’t stay by her side to the end.
“After kissing the thorns, all I want is to love you.”
