During a visit to Lin'an Prefecture, he takes one look at Cao Yuanqing, who is undergoing a trial in the mortal realm while still human, and falls for him. But after several encounters, Cao Yuanqing treats him as if he were invisible, leaving Meng Qingyan thoroughly frustrated. They meet again at Zundu Prefecture, the Three Realms Post Station, where Cao Yuanqing is the head chef, trained in the Kitchen God's culinary arts. Meng Qingyan gets caught up in a battle of wits with the post station's shareholders and diners, including Pixiu, Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, Nine-Tailed Fox, and Black Tortoise, all for the sake of a bite to eat. The result is a string of hilarious misadventures...
