"The Biography of Zhang Kang" is based on the real historical background of the late Ming Dynasty. At that time, party strife in the court was fierce, civil disasters occurred frequently, and the people were in deep misery. Zhang Jinghong, whose courtesy name was Yiyun, was born in Liuyang, Hunan in 1597. His birth was accompanied by strange celestial phenomena such as the unusual movement of purple stars and the falling light of the Big Dipper. His mother dreamed of a white deer carrying Ganoderma lucidum into her arms, and cinnabar runes loomed in his palms. The wandering Taoist priests asserted that he "had the destiny of the three princes and should use his flesh and blood to survive the common people."
The family was forced to move south due to party disputes, and experienced many hardships along the way. After settling down, Zhang Jinghong obtained "The Fragments of Shennong" and his medical skills were extraordinary, but he was jealous of the witch Zhu. After the plague broke out, he discovered that the earth's veins were sinister, and he fought against the black dragon. After dreaming of visiting the three princes, he used the blood of pure yang to suppress the epidemic. In the end, the ancient well was stained with blood and he died heroically.
The people appreciated his kindness and built the Sanhou Temple. Since then, many strange things have happened in the temple over the years, such as the Qing Dynasty scholars who painted caisson drawings at night during the Daoguang years of the Qing Dynasty, the ancient bells that sounded the warning to avoid air raids during the Anti-Japanese War, and the modern archaeological team's instruments in front of the tomb found thermal images of the human body in the late Ming Dynasty. Sanhou Temple and Henglong Temple are connected through underground spiritual veins. Every year in the Jiazi Year, Zhang Kangying's spirit patrols along the eighteen-arch corridor. Visitors to Ciyun Pavilion can see that the poems on the wall change with the sunshine. At dusk, the characters "Three princes are not princes, and the healthy ones have no boundaries." The legendary story of Zhang Jinghong has been passed down from generation to generation in this land and has become a spiritual force that inspires future generations.
