The protagonist is a college student who has just returned from military service. He's preparing for a job interview when, while passing along Riverside Road, he spots a woman jumping into the river to end her life. Without a second thought, he jumps in to save her. But unexpectedly, he transmigrates into the body of the Ming emperor who is drowning: Zhu Youxiao, known as the Carpenter Emperor. Thus begins the protagonist's journey through time.
