[Revenge + adventure + the supernatural + metaphysics + powerful heroine + an all-female cast of powerful leads]
You've heard of robbing tombs, but never of robbing your own!
Shang Zeqi is a “youthful ancestor” who was buried alive by her own family a thousand years ago. A thousand years ago, her clan sacrificed her to fill a bridge, shattering her soul into pieces in exchange for the family's longevity. When the seal weakened five hundred years later, she burst out of her coffin, slaughtered the entire clan, and even built herself a fake tomb for good measure. Now she's forced to dig up graves wherever she goes to begin her “soul-gathering journey,” while teaching her unworthy descendants a thing or two about “an ancestor's fury.” After all, what ancestor doesn't have a temper?
The “not-so-serious” guide to the main cast
[Shang Zeqi] She can communicate with the realms of yin and yang, tell the future, and wield a string of blood-jade beads as a weapon. While others fiddle with prayer beads, she toys with people's fate. She specializes in dealing with unworthy descendants, but modern devices make her blow a fuse. (A phone? Her natural enemy.)
[Su Hexiang] A saintess of the Wu tribe, skilled in both medicine and poison. She's elegant and sharp-tongued, saving lives with silver needles in her left hand and taking them with a medicine pestle in her right. She specializes in dealing with thousand-year-old corpse poison and teammates who get themselves killed.
[Jiang Mutang] A big shot in black-market smuggling and the first man in a suit to raid tombs. By day, he traffics in cultural relics; by night, he raids tombs and hunts for treasure. His jade thumb ring is his navigation system, and his thunderfire bombs are his fireworks. His catchphrase: “Robbing tombs beats gambling with your life, but gambling with your life beats teasing Li Ke.”
[Li Ke] A cold-faced assassin in a trench coat with a dagger. Her weapons speak more than she does, and her combat skills are off the charts. She can take on ten opponents in close combat, as long as Jiang Mutang isn't one of them.
[Gu Xinghui] An archaeology fanatic and Shang Zeqi's “rebellious grandniece.” Armed with the Qianji Hairpin, she specializes in countering ancient tomb mechanisms. Once she puts on her smart glasses, even ghosts have to call her “Professor.”
A thousand years of grudges are no match for a game of mahjong; when the earth's ley lines collapse, first down three bowls of realgar wine.
