Amid the maelstrom of power, Sima Yutian meets people from all walks of life and cleverly overcomes obstruction from conservative forces. He joins forces with the merchant Zhao Fu to reform the economy, establish commercial markets, and break with traditional business practices. In military affairs, he boldly reforms the armed forces, strengthens their fighting power, and successfully repels foreign invaders. Along the way, he falls in love with Lin Wan'er, a noble young lady who also makes major contributions to cultural diplomacy.
As the reforms progress, the Great Shun Dynasty gradually prospers and its standing in the world continues to rise. But Sima Yutian is not content to stop there.
