The Cousin Young Lady Is Sweet as Jade, and the Third Prince Is Deliberately Pursuing Her

On the first day Lin Yunyan entered the household, her refined and gentle cousin warned her not to covet what wasn’t hers.

Her haughty cousin treated her like a lowly weed, bullying and humiliating her day after day.

Her uncle acted as if she didn’t exist.

Her aunt secretly plotted to marry her off to an old widower whose three previous wives had died.

They all saw her as a prized piece of meat, rubbing their hands together as they prepared to sell her for a good price.

A country girl like her was supposed to spend her whole life hidden from the world, trampled underfoot.

But one day, the Third Prince, so exalted that everyone gazed up at him like a star, turned his attention to her. Lin Yunyan suddenly decided there was nothing wrong with attaching herself to wealth and power.

At least, when she saw the people who had once looked down on her and bullied her in every way now groveling at her feet, begging her to spare them for old times’ sake, she thought life wasn’t so bad after all.

The Third Prince, Wei Yong, was steady and resolute, with a brilliant mind. The people of the capital had always pursued him like a celestial dragon in the sky or the moon reflected in water. Then, by a twist of fate, he gained a secondary consort.

They said she was a rare beauty, stunning enough to captivate him at first sight and make him cherish her beyond measure.

But later, rumors spread through the capital that this beauty’s father had once offended the Crown Prince.

The Crown Prince was said to be furious.

The Third Prince and the Crown Prince were deeply devoted brothers. For the sake of that bond, surely he ought to have the beauty executed.

And yet Wei Yong was willing to take the risk just to keep her by his side.
