A younger-man romance + mutual firsts + realistic depression + prolonging life + no rich, handsome man + no beautiful heiress + dysfunctional family + angsty love
“Please, let me go.”
“Please, look at me.”
Yun Keyan is a poor working stiff crushed under the weight of depression and anxiety. She thought life was bad enough already, but after waking up one day, she finds she can't walk, her wallet is empty, and she's saddled with a mountain of debt. It's like she's been cursed with bad luck.
All of this is thanks to Shen Youjing, who has left her burdened with yet another debt.
“Yun Keyan, what will it take for you to believe me?”
“Yun Keyan, I'm begging you, please believe me just this once.”
“Keyan, whatever choice you make, I'll make the same one.”
“A-Yan, you may not believe me, but from the first time I met you, it was fate that I should belong to you.”
“Shen Youjing, are you out of your mind? Why are you pestering someone who could die at any moment?”
“Get out! Get out of here, get out of my world!”
“Shen Youjing, I don't want to drag you down. I really don't. Stop looking for me. Can we just pretend we never knew each other?”
Shen Youjing can't remember when or why he became so certain about Yun Keyan. But Yun Keyan would rather die than let Shen Youjing enter her abyss. She believes she doesn't deserve anything good, people included.
Yun Keyan doesn't know if she'll see another tomorrow. She can't be sure when she'll lose control. She keeps going back and forth to the hospital because she wants to live, yet at the same time, she doesn't want to live.
Leaving Shen Youjing would at least spare him from one day taking her ashes into his own hands...
