Li Qingshan is 28 years old, holds a doctorate in folklore, and works as an assistant researcher at a university's folklore institute. He has been fascinated by folk legends and traditional culture since childhood, with a particular interest in funeral customs. The reason for that has to do with a secret of his own. He has come to this remote mountain village to write a paper on paper effigies. His advisor once told him that the village has preserved the most ancient forms of this craft, especially the mysterious "Paper Bridegroom." And so the story begins.
