Forensic pathologist Lin Xia never imagined that a bizarre corpse would pull her into a world of the mystic arts hidden for a thousand years. When the dead person's chest began to writhe strangely before her eyes, and the lights in the autopsy room flickered in the darkness, a man holding a golden talisman appeared like a celestial being.
Gu Mo, a mysterious consultant for the Special Cases Investigation Unit, has mystical eyes that can see through yin and yang. He tells her that some people are born with spiritual bodies, able to sense darkness that ordinary people cannot. Lin Xia is one of them.
Behind one bizarre murder after another lies a shocking conspiracy laid by practitioners of the mystic arts. The Heart-Eating Curse, the Soul-Summoning Banner, the Soul-Subduing Bell... Every magical artifact is stained with the blood of innocents. As the golden talisman on Lin Xia's wrist gradually appears, and an unusual light rises in Gu Mo's mystical eyes, they discover that this conspiracy is inextricably linked to Lin Xia's origins.
As she investigates the truth, Lin Xia must face not only supernatural horrors, but also the deepest fears in her heart. And Gu Mo, this mysterious and powerful man, is he her salvation, or another carefully laid trap?
When the truth comes to light, they discover that the most terrifying thing is not the heart-eating spells, but the darkness deep within the human heart. In this game spanning yin and yang, who is the true player moving the pieces?
