In the Ninefold Cosmic Realm, thunderclouds churn as purple divine lightning takes the shape of dragons and ravages the mortal world. In Lin Yuan City, the pregnant Su clan woman sacrifices her flesh and blood to give birth to a child within the Nine Heavens Mysterious Maiden Formation. At the same time, seven-year-old Mu Qingqiu forcibly divines the secrets of heaven. Paying with blood streaming from her eyes, she activates the Art of Stealing Heaven and Changing Fate, hiding the baby's aura in a gap between cycles of reincarnation. At the heart of the storm, a pair of golden, glass-like eyes appear. A sigh follows: "Another variable of primordial chaos..."
That baby is Li Tong.
Ten years later, Li Tong carries a medicine basket on his back and climbs the Stairway of the Heart at the Tai Xu Temple. The temple's abbess, Immortal Maiden Yuheng, speaks gently to him, but secretly alters the scriptures, changing "survive tribulation" to "feed tribulation." Li Tong accidentally discovers the secret in the Sutra Repository, only to face a warning from a white fox and a deadly pursuit by Immortal Maiden Yuheng. At the critical moment, Mu Qingqiu appears with a bronze lamp, drives Yuheng away, and leads him to the Hall of Rebirth in the Netherworld Blood Sea.
Before the Hall of Rebirth, Li Tong makes a contract with the Rakshasa woman Ye Wuhuan, binding them for "ninety-eight thousand heartbeats." But at the moment between life and death, the mysterious power of the bronze giant gate is unleashed. Meanwhile, the birthmark on his body, a mysterious lotus pattern, begins to glow softly, as if heralding an even greater secret.
As the story unfolds, Li Tong's fate becomes entwined with the five heroines: Mu Qingqiu, Bai Li, Ye Wuhuan, You Huang, and Su Lingsu. Each represents a different race and destiny, yet all play crucial roles in Li Tong's journey. From the mortal realm to the cultivation world, from the Netherworld Blood Sea to the Sacred Pool of the Demon Abyss, every step Li Tong takes reveals an even greater conspiracy.
