[Fantasy] [European History and Geography] [Greek Mythology] [Infinite Flow] [Slow-Burn, Not a Power Fantasy]
A medieval European ring lets us witness the world of medieval Europe and the growth of the novel's protagonist, Lucas. As we read, we will experience the "war between two worlds," cross the Pyrenees, hear The Song of Roland, see the Macedonian phalanx return, venture into the Egyptian pyramids, and attack the holy city of Jerusalem, among other adventures. In this world, we can easily learn about medieval European history, geography, mythology, politics, and military affairs. Later in the story, the gods of ancient Greek mythology will appear in the Middle Ages, struggling against one another through their incarnations in this new cycle. History repeats itself through cycles... Most of the gods in this novel represent the evil in human nature. For example, the Pope is Zeus's incarnation in that era. Zeus would not allow humanity to possess fire, which represents civilization. In the Middle Ages, the Pope likewise controlled people's thoughts. When the protagonist, Lucas, learns the truth and rebels against the Pope, he becomes the incarnation of Prometheus in this cycle of the Middle Ages.
