Also known as: The Childhood Friend Couldn't Compete, So the One Who Appeared Out of Nowhere Had to Fight for Me
[Two powerful leads + pink-haired, fiery-tempered young master bottom vs. buzz-cut, scheming, poor, hearing-impaired top + rivals to lovers + somewhat melodramatic + hearing-aid romance]
Sheng Luo was born into a family of scholars. His father was a professor, and his mother worked at a research institute. Everyone advised him, “Sheng Luo, you were born into a family with the best educational resources. So many people envy you. You should cherish that.”
But he insisted on going against the grain. He got single-digit scores, skipped class to go online, did whatever he pleased, and even formed a band in eighth grade.
He also had a childhood friend he'd grown up playing with.
Anyone with eyes could see that this childhood friend liked Sheng Luo. Only Sheng Luo, with his single-track straight-guy mindset, thought of him as a good older brother.
So plenty of people placed bets: would this young master Sheng eventually bring home a sweet girl, or would his childhood friend carry him home?
But what happened in the end left everyone utterly stunned: he was swept off his feet by someone who appeared out of nowhere!
Everyone wept: “As expected, nobody wins at the betting table...”
The new arrival grinned triumphantly. “What can I say? I fought for him and took him for myself.”
Sheng Luo's childhood friend gave him several delicate wooden carvings. Lou Sheng went to great lengths to trick him out of them, then promptly threw them in the trash.
Lou Sheng: “Trash. How could it deserve to be liked by him?”
Later, he carved a whole bagful of new ones for Sheng Luo and held them out to him. “Here, take these and play with them. If you break them, I'll make you more.”
Lou Sheng finally won Sheng Luo over, and at last couldn't hold back any longer. As Sheng Luo pleaded for him to stop again and again, he quietly took off his hearing aids...
The writing is very good and the characters are not overwhelming.
