Ryan is a boy whose origins are shrouded in mystery. He grew up in a remote border town of the human empire, but a mysterious power lies hidden within him. It often erupts when he is in danger, helping him escape disaster. By chance, Ryan discovers an ancient stone tablet in the ruins of the town. Strange runes cover its surface, and they seem to be pointing him toward the Tower That Reaches the Heavens.
On his journey to uncover the truth, Ryan meets Luna, an elven princess who is kind, brave, and skilled in nature magic. Tired of political infighting within her clan, she ran away from home. The two travel together and later meet Balk, a dwarven inventor who is being hunted by the conservative faction of his people for creating a mechanical device that can convert magic into machinery and vice versa. Sharing the same ideals, the three decide to journey to the Tower That Reaches the Heavens to uncover the secrets of an artifact and change the world for their own reasons.
But their journey is fraught with hardship and danger.
