Chun Qing goes from a wealthy young lady to a stage performer overnight. Standing onstage, she sings a sorrowful opera, tears streaming down her face. Fu Cishao becomes a symbol of power, while Chun Qing is reduced to the lowest rung of society. Though they still hold each other in their hearts, the cruelty of reality leaves them unable to cross the divide.
