Crossing This Spring

[Mutual pining / Bad ending / Two top students]

*

If this story has an ending,

it should be the clouds parting over what lies buried in the earth.

It should be longing from a hospital bed.

“Once I make it through this spring, I’ll come marry you.”

“Now, you’re my second wish.”
