A thousand years ago, the world prospered as a whole, and wealth ruled over everything. A group of idealistic scientists dedicated themselves to breaking this social order. They founded the Scientific Alliance and, with science and technology as their foundation, waged a century-long struggle against the financial oligarchs. Wealth gradually faded from human society. The idealists turned the gold reserves once belonging to Wall Street investors into humanity’s first Dyson ring, while mechanical cities a thousand meters tall rose among the mountains. Humanity reached an unprecedented level of technological advancement.

Yet all this grew increasingly distant from the masses. When money and desire were both erased, new technologies were no longer made available to the entire world, and ordinary people’s lives were no different from those of a thousand years earlier. Fossil fuels had run out, and humanity’s population had fallen to one tenth of its former size. Ordinary people relied on solar power and struggled at the brink of survival, while the people of the scientific world had already ventured into the Milky Way to explore the mysteries of time and space.

The people of these two worlds had long since lost all contact. Then Ryan, a desert mercenary, discovered that his sister’s clone was being made in an underground cloning facility.
