Sun Wukong is replaced by the Six-Eared Macaque. As his true spirit fades away, the Heavenly Lord of the Primordial Beginning steps in to protect him, helping him be reborn in a stone egg rich with spiritual energy. Reborn, Wukong is no longer impulsive. He devotes himself to revenge. The Heavenly Lord of the Primordial Beginning appears and takes Wukong as his disciple, teaching him the Shangqing Immortal Arts and recounting how the Chan Sect and others targeted the Jie Sect, bringing it to the brink of destruction. Learning of his origins and his mission, Wukong takes the Green Duckweed Sword to find his senior sister, the Holy Mother of Wudang (the Old Mother of Mount Li), hoping to gather the remnants of the Jie Sect. Along the way, he must not only rescue captured Jie Sect disciples but also contend with the schemes of various factions. Thus begins a grand tale of the Jie Sect’s resurgence and Sun Wukong’s revenge against the Heavenly Court.
