The story took place during the Anti-Japanese War. The land of China was raging with war. The iron hoofs of the Japanese aggressors trampled on them wantonly, and countless people lost their lives. In this devastated land, various forces are intertwined, including the ferocious Japanese invaders and the puppet regime they supported, the heroic resistance of the Chinese army, including regular troops and guerrillas active behind enemy lines, and traitors and bandits with ulterior motives who seek personal gain in troubled times.
