In the prosperous yet mysterious city of Luoyang, under cover of night, hidden forces stir. Pei Shiqi, an apothecary’s assistant, had been living an ordinary life, but after he rescued Su Yao, a woman being hunted, the wheels of fate began to turn.
Late one night, a mysterious man in black tapped on Pei Shiqi’s window, carrying the jade pendant from Su Yao’s wrist, and lured him to an abandoned manor. It turned out that Su Yao was a defector from the Chiyan Cult. The cult was relentlessly pursuing her over an ancient, mysterious medical text that could cure every poison in the world and bring the dead back to life. They intended to use it to expand their power and threaten the martial world. The text was hidden in the heavily guarded, trap-filled Bailu Academy in the north of the city.
At the man in black’s suggestion, Su Yao and Pei Shiqi formed an alliance and decided to sneak into the academy together. Under cover of night, they used the man’s practiced skills to enter and moved forward cautiously. But just as they neared the library pavilion, they heard the footsteps of a group of guards. Danger descended in an instant. Can ordinary man Pei Shiqi make it through this turmoil in the martial world unscathed? Will they manage to obtain the ancient text and stop the Chiyan Cult’s evil plans? A heart-pounding adventure is quietly unfolding in the night of Luoyang.
