Great Tang: Sent to Marry for Peace from the Start by Wu Zetian

The sovereign I serve is the legacy of Zhenguan, shining like the sun and moon! It is the mighty bow with which Emperor Taizong expanded the realm, and the imperial brush with which His Majesty Emperor Gaozong entrusted me with his dying wishes! This vermilion palace step is stained with the loyal blood of Grand Commandant Changsun, and the Vermilion Bird Gate bears the blade marks of Wei Zheng's remonstrances. Wu has replaced Tang with Zhou, but can she not see that the Vermilion Bird atop Chang'an still bears the banners of Li Tang? Back then, the lamps at Ganye Temple had not yet gone cold, and the late emperor still lay on his sickbed, yet Your Majesty was already exchanging secret messages with the Secretariat in a Taoist robe. So today, I must ask: which sovereign is it that I serve? The surviving pages of the Instructions for Emperors, bestowed on me by the late emperor in the first year of Yonghui, have been etched into my heart, every word, for twenty years. May I ask Your Majesty, (with a cold laugh) can you still find the traces of the Li clan of Longxi in the Clan Records beneath your desk?
