Please Remember Me in Tomorrow's Battle

In the late Spring and Autumn period, a struggle between the authority of the Jin ruler and the power of the great ministers sparked a war between Duke Chu of Jin and the four ministers Wei, Zhao, Han, and Zhi. Duke Chu was defeated and fled into exile. Zhi Yao deposed the old ruler and installed a new one, reaching the height of his power. Through the experiences of different characters during these events, the novel offers a comprehensive picture of how nobles and commoners lived in the final years of the Spring and Autumn period. It tells the backstory of Yu Rang, the assassin who would die for someone who understood him, as well as the romantic trials of Shi Jiang, the most beautiful woman under heaven, who dressed to please the one who understood her. It showcases the brilliance of the literary and martial retainers of the Qin school, as well as the extraordinary talents of Zhi Yao, Wei Huanzi, Han Kangzi, and Zhao Wuxu. It also brings to life the distinctive ideas and personalities of figures aligned with the rulers, including Lady Qi, Lord Wu Wang, and Shang Yangzi. A reform meant to revive Jin devolved into a bloody civil war, ultimately leading to the state’s division and ushering in nearly four hundred years of the Warring States period.
