The Taoist Corpse Chaser of Republican-Era China

In the early years of the Republic of China, the world was in turmoil and monsters ran rampant. Huang Tianyun, a drifter on the Shanghai Bund, accidentally wandered into the Secret Realm of Illusory Truth. He joined the Illusory Truth Daoist Sect to study the Dao, then descended the mountain with a magical sword in hand to exorcise demons and defend the righteous.

He faced vengeful ghosts, battled fox demons, hunted spirits, and subdued zombies. Along the way, he met Luo Qiuye, a young woman from a family of ghost hunters. Together, they pursued the Zombie King, encountering one strange supernatural affair after another.

Huang Tianyun first discovered that the Zombie King was secretly gathering ghosts and imprisoning souls to cultivate the Great Heavenly Demon Art, all to deal with him. Later, just as the Republic of China regime was on the verge of collapse, he discovered that someone had joined forces with the Zombie King, who had taken human form, to carry out a shocking conspiracy: they planned to open the gates between the worlds of yin and yang and unleash countless ghosts to wreak havoc among the living. Faced with crisis after crisis, can Huang Tianyun turn the tide and protect the peace of the human world? Can he make sure that wish comes true? After the founding of the nation, no one is allowed to become a monster; no one is allowed to turn into a ghost or demon!
