A Ming, an ordinary university student fascinated by history, accidentally transmigrates to ancient times during an archaeological visit.
A commotion came from outside the door. I frowned. “Mother, what's going on out there?”
My mother stood up and went to the doorway to look outside. Turning back to me, she said, “The village head is here. He says they're conscripting men to build the city wall.”
My heart tightened, and I hurried to the doorway. The village head stood in the courtyard, holding a notice and shouting, “By law, every adult man must perform corvée labor. Anyone who refuses will be punished according to the law!”
The villagers all looked worried, and I was no exception. My mother came to my side and said softly, “A Ming, when you go... be sure to take care.”
