The fictional Shengqian Dynasty appears prosperous and flourishing, but is rife with internal conflicts. The emperor is incompetent, power has slipped from his hands, and the various factions scheme and struggle against one another while the people suffer. Su Yi transmigrates into this world and finds himself inhabiting the body of a poor scholar from the lowest rung of society, whose parents are both dead.
