The story follows a protagonist who was a failure in China. His life, career, and marriage all went badly. At work, he was tricked into joining a pyramid scheme and lost a great deal of money. His marriage failed too: after one or two years, his spouse cheated on him, and they divorced. He left with nothing but debts. He then went to Japan to make a living, endured countless hardships there, married a Japanese woman, and built his own commercial technology empire.
