As Qiusheng’s master lies on his deathbed, he tells Qiusheng to observe three years of mourning and open the tomb only after that. His dutiful apprentice is mocked and humiliated for three years. When the time comes, Qiusheng opens the tomb as instructed and receives his master’s true teachings, rising to prominence amid the chaos.
