The Ambition of the Yellow Heavens

Origins: Inheriting the Book of Great Peace and Carrying on the Yellow Turbans’ Mission

Worldbuilding

Time period: From the sixth year of Zhongping, 189, to the twenty-fifth year of Jian’an, 220. Set against the late Han and Three Kingdoms era, the story portrays more than thirty years of sweeping change.

-Setting: From Julu in Jizhou to Nanyang in Jingzhou, from Wu Commandery in Jiangdong to Hanzhong in Yizhou, the story spans the varied landscapes of thirteen provinces, with a special focus on the farming civilizations and military strongholds of the Yangtze River basin.

Historical foundations: The story closely follows late Han military institutions, including the retainer system, the official bureaucracy and recommendation system, and the social structure of powerful clans’ manor economies. It reimagines how Yellow Turban thought transforms amid the chaos of the age.
