Tales of the Northeast

Ling Yi, a yin-yang practitioner from a small mountain village in Northeast China, becomes an online sensation thanks to his supernatural fiction, only to receive a death message: “The man strangled by the Snake Immortal in your new chapter died at my house this morning. The bruises shaped like scales on his neck look just like your description.” Even more terrifying, the corpse was clutching a bead that looked like a Buddhist relic.

The dragon scales on the right arm of Chang Tianba, the old immortal who serves as his guardian, burn fiercely. “Someone is using your novel as a murder script!” When Ling Yi rushes to an old house in a deserted village, his peachwood sword can’t pierce the latest victim’s corpse. A coin embedded in the victim’s chest is inscribed with his master Zhang Xuanfeng’s birth date and hour.

At that moment, 99+ private messages flood his phone. In the latest video, a group of women in bridal gowns tear off their own faces and scream, “Dear author, it’s time to write how we die.”

When the fictional horrors of the underworld spill into reality, every word you write takes a life.
