Civilization Is Innocent, but Must the Empress Die?

As a prince of the Galactic Empire, he was killed by the same woman ninety-nine times.

Across ninety-nine lives, ninety-nine weddings, and ninety-nine ascents to the throne, he always died in her arms.

She rescued him from the ruins, took a blade for him, fought beside him as they razed cities, and whispered words of love.

Yet the moment he handed her the whole world, she slit his throat.

Only after his ninety-ninth death did he learn the truth.

She was an avatar of the Dark Empress of Eternal Night, the authority who controlled the System that reclaimed civilizations across the universe.

His empire was an experiment, his death was data, and his reincarnation was nourishment.

He was nothing more than livestock, raised again and again.

This time, when he was reborn,

he went mad.

He tore through time.

He shattered the cycle of reincarnation.

He hid his memories in the deepest reaches of his life code.

He chose to be born in her own lair.

Eternal Night.

The darkest realm in the universe.

No more saving the world.

No more playing fair.

No more believing in the light.

In this life, he had only one goal: kill.

Kill his way through the abyss.

Kill the rules themselves.

Kill until that elegant, composed empress showed fear for the first time.

If civilization was innocent,

then he would turn his blade on the universe.

And this time,

the cycle would end.

He would not be the one to die.
