Mountain Medicine and Feng Shui

This book journeys from ancient villages in the Taihang Mountains, to the urban villages of Sanyuanli in Guangzhou during the early days of reform and opening up, and then to the Lujiazui CBD in 21st-century Shanghai, creating a collision of traditional and modern spaces. It builds a five-arts system of traditional Chinese studies: "mountains as its foundation, medicine as its application, destiny as its guiding principle, physiognomy as its outward form, and divination as its technique." It uses the corroboration between quantum entanglement theory and the wisdom of the I Ching, as well as the parallels between biological rhythms and the flow of qi through the meridians at different times of day, to reconstruct traditional wisdom in the language of modern science. In this cross-section of an era brimming with both opportunity and traps, we can see how traditional culture can be revitalized. By precisely addressing the contemporary spiritual predicament in which "cultural anxiety and technological panic coexist," Mountain Medicine Feng Shui will become a cultural phenomenon and intellectual property, giving the wisdom of metaphysics a voice once more in the metaverse era. Through tightly interlocking plotlines and steadily escalating conflicts, Mountain Medicine Feng Shui will tell an epic story that spans individual fate and the survival of civilization. Every pivotal moment carries a specific cultural metaphor and mark of its era. Amid the collision of tradition and modernity, science and metaphysics, it seeks the ultimate answer to the question of human civilization.
